The death of Mary Elizabeth “Molly” Hunt of Amherst occurred on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Gables Lodge.
Born July 22, 1928 in Amherst, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Roy and Margaret Ann (Currie) Hunt.
A faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Amherst for many years, where she served as financial secretary, and member of the CWC. Molly graduated from High School in 1946 and attended Acadia University graduating in 1949 with a Secretarial Degree. She worked for A.D. Smith Lumber from 1949-1991 as a secretary and retiring as an office manager.
A great supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society, Molly received the Silver Pin Award in 1986 as well as a Plaque to honour outstanding contribution in 1989.
One of her greatest joys, were her love of animals and the support of the Lillian Allbon Animal Shelter. Having many animals over the years, she was especially fond of Shadow her dog, Fred and Susie her cats.
She will be lovingly remembered by her special friends, Danny (Kathie) Cole and their children, Doreen Ettinger, Marguerite Reid and numerous other good friends.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst (667-9906).
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 13 at 2:00 p.m. from First Baptist Church, Amherst with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the Robie Street Cemetery, Truro, NS.
Memorial contributions in Molly’s memory may be made to the LA Animal Shelter or Canadian Cancer Society.
