Douglas Larche

LARCHE, DOUGLAS - Constable Douglas James Larche while in the line of duty working as a plain clothes Codiac RCMP officer, without fear or hesitation ran towards danger to protect his community and family and died tragically on Wednesday evening June 4th, 2014 in Moncton, NB. Born in Campbellton and raised in Saint John Doug was an extremely proud member of the RCMP for 12 years. He joined the RCMP on February 4, 2002. He worked in Doaktown, NB and was then transferred to the Codiac Detachment in 2006. He worked as a General Duty member, Highway Patrol, Codiac General Investigation Section and more recently with the Codiac Major Crime Unit. He received a Commander’s Commendation for saving the life of a two week old infant in 2007. Doug lived for his wife and three daughters. His three daughters were his little princesses and he loved them more than anything else in this world. He was an extraordinary father and husband, loving, loyal, funny and completely selfless. Doug was an avid runner, finishing many races including a marathon, several half marathons, 15 k’s, 10k’s and 5k’s. He recently completed the Fredericton Half Marathon this past Mother's Day where he set a new personal best. While Doug liked to separate work and family, he very much enjoyed doing presentations at his daughters’ schools and daycare in uniform and with a police car to show children that police officers are here to keep them safe. He will be remembered for his work ethic, loyalty, sense of duty, and particularly his silly sense of humour. Let us honour his memory and that of his deceased colleagues so that his daughters and all of the other children affected by this tragedy know that their fathers were heroes. Doug’s “girlies” always thought their Daddy was their hero. Honouring Doug's memory is a celebration of life; he worked every day for a safer and better world for all of us. Doug leaves behind his wife of 12 years, Nadine Larche (née Goguen), his three beautiful daughters Mia (9), Lauren (8) and Alexa (4) and dog Ziggy. He is also survived by his parents, Daniel and Elizabeth (Chapman) Larche of Kazabazua, QC; a brother, Daniel of Victoria, BC; a sister-in-law, Andréa Goguen of Toronto, ON; nieces Keira, Claire, and Bianca; his mother-in-law, Elaine Farrah Costello (Keith Costello) of Moncton, NB; and his father-in-law, Charles Goguen (Jean) of Dieppe, NB, many aunts, uncles, cousins and his extended RCMP family.
