Passed in: Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada
Passed on: June 9th, 2014

Betty Helena Keddy Cassidy, September 9, 1923 - June 9, 2014. Predeceased by father, Stanley, mother, Edith, brother, Wallace and husband, Robert. Survived by Margaret Cassidy (partner John Ulrich) and Catherine MacNevin (Graham), grandchildren Rebecca, Robert, Marc, Graham Scott, and Richard. Betty was a wonderful generous lady who took great joy in her five grandchildren. She took a large part in their early upbringing with her co-grandmother, Rene MacNevin. The two of them would meet daily for coffee at Whitman Court after swimming, to help around the busy household, earning title "MacNevin Laundry Fairies". She never missed a concert, ballet performance, graduation, prom or birthday celebration and took great pride in the children's academic and athletic achievements. Betty also volunteered her time with the Truro Schools Band and the Truro Music Festival, while administering Robert's architectural business and could often be heard typing late into the night on her trusty manual typewriter. Betty's earthly remains have been donated to the Dalhousie Department of Medical Neuroscience in the hope she can aid in the efforts to study and prevent dementia and alzheimers disease. Donations in tribute to Betty's "life well lived" can be made to the Colchester SPCA.
