Brian Kenneth Fowler

Brian Kenneth Fowler – 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6th 2014 at The Maritime Oddfellows Home in Pictou, NS. Born in Truro, NS on March 8th 1950, he was the son of the late Harold and Gena (Brown) Fowler. A man of faith and loyalty, Brian lived his life with courage and sincere devotion to his family and friends. Dedicated to providing for his family, he took great pride in nearly twenty years of bridge and highway work, as Superintendent for Latimer Construction. In later years he enjoyed working as Shop Foreman doing custom millwork for Fowler Construction Services. Brian enjoyed photography, music, gardening and time spent camping with friends and family in Economy, NS. In spite of health challenges that began when he was a young father, he was guided by his faith in God, and was blessed with a keen sense of humor. It was due to these strengths that he was more than successful in raising a family he was extremely proud of. He is survived by his children: Jeffrey Fowler (Jane) Scotsburn NS, Neil Fowler (Blair) Coquitlam BC, Jacqueline Melanson (Troy) Saint John, NB, and his grandchildren, Kristin Fowler, Kyle Fowler, Samantha Awad, and Matthew Melanson. He was also a surrogate parent and grandparent to many others. He is also survived by brothers, David Fowler (Shirley), Harold Fowler (Krista); sisters, Sharon MacLean (Richard), Sheila Fraser (Steve), Cynthia Cox (Charles) as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Scott, and his sister, Eleanor. No visitation by request. A Celebration of Brian’s life will be held at 2 p.m, Wednesday June 11 at Colchester Community Funeral Home 512 Willow Street, Truro NS with Rev. Jay Ettinger officiating. Interment to follow at Robie Street Cemetery,Truro. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to The Maritime Oddfellows Home Resident Care Fund, 143 Norway Point Rd., Pictou, N.S. B0K 1H0.
