Brotzel: Annie Marguerite Brotzel, age 98, of Swift Current and formerly on the Leinan District passed away June 2, 2014 at the Palliser Regional Care Centre. The Funeral Service was held at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 7, 2014 from St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Linda Hall officiating. The organist was Arlie Neufeld. The Life Tribute was presented by Sandy Gustavson. A poem was read by Marge Bailey and scripture reading was given by Denise Haas. The pallbearers were Gordon Gustavson, Ryan Gustavson, Harley Gustavson, Emery Gustavson, Dana Bailey and Brendan Bailey. Honorary Pallbearers were all who shared in her life. The interment service took place at Mount Pleasant Burial Park. Marguerite is survived by her cousin George (Jean) Gustavson and families and Roy Gustavson and numerous other cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Tony Brotzel in 1964, her father Hilding Bolinder in 1969, her mother Karen (Gustavson) Bolinder in 1970 and her sister Gladys in 2006. Marguerite was born on July 5, 1915 in the Leinan District. She started her education in Leinan, had one term at Buena Vista School and then completed her education at Swift Current Collegiate Institute. She took a course in bookkeeping, typing and received a diploma in nursing. Marguerite married Tony Brotzel on December 25, 1945. He passed away in 1964. Marguerite was employed at the General Hospital as a seamstress and nurse's aide. From there she went to work for Mr. I. Kling in his clothing store. Marguerite also worked at Simpson's Order Office for five years, Western Credit Union for 16 years, Palliser Care Centre for 7 years and then the Pioneer Lodge for two and a half years. She was a member of the Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Branch # 56, Westwind Singles Square Dance Club, Bethel Prairie Lutheran Church, and St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Marguerite was baptized on December 5, 1915, and was confirmed on November 9, 1930 in the Lutheran Faith. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, singing in the choir, travelling, square dancing and socializing with family and friends. Marguerite had a passion for cats. She always had a cat or two to keep her company. She had names for all of them. Some we remember are Mimi, Missy, Tiger, Fiji, Gigi, Twiggy, Skeezix, Cat and Sweetie. Marguerite will be sadly missed but fondly remember by her family. In her memory, memorial donations may be made to the Swift Current S.P.C.A., Palliser Regional Care Centre Auxiliary or the Canadian Cancer Society or donor's choice.
