Esther MacKay

MacKAY, ESTHER HELEN (WATLING) - It is with great sorrow that “Esther’s girls” announce the sudden death of their Mom on Saturday, June 7th 2014. Esther was born July 25th 1928 in Black River Bridge NB to the late Alexander Watling and Jean Cameron. Esther leaves behind her daughters, Gail Inferrere (John) Wayland MA, Cynthia MacKay Fredericton NB, Jean Robinson (Jeff) Lincoln NB, Janet Simmons (Paul) Sackville NS, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren and her baby sister Glenna Gilliss, Napan NB. She is predeceased by her husband of forty-three years Fraser H MacKay and five brothers and five sisters. Esther stayed at home to raise her girls and was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend. Esther could be seen every Sunday sitting half way up on the King St. side of Wilmot United Church. She belonged to the United Church Women’s group, was an active member of the Imperial Rebekah Lodge 102 Fredericton for 58 years and a devoted Royalist. Her life’s work was looking after family and not necessarily her own. There are many families in Fredericton who would say Mom was like a favourite aunt or a very special Grammie.

A funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 12 from Wilmot United Church at 11 AM with Rev. Ellen Bearisto officiating.
