Passed peacefully away in the ­presence of his loving family, Wilfred Garfield Rice at the Health Science Complex in St. John's, NL on Monday, June 9th, 2014, at the age of 79 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories: his wife, Nellie (nee Heath); his children: Jaunita Hampton (Roy Williams) of Red Deer, AB, Willis of Brampton, ON, Terry of ON, Ford (Neil Harris) of Corner Brook, NL, Cordella (Kevin Rose), St. John’s, NL, Dean (Stephan Veilleux), Michelle of Toronto, ON; his sister, Mrs. Effie Osmond of Pollards Point, NL; his grandchildren: Chris Hampton (Susie), Melissa and Nicole Hampton, Gregory and Brandon Rice, Nicholas, Adam, Krista Rice, Bradley (Angel), Rice, Sandra Lee and Shawn Rose, Michael Kennedy and Sarilyn Rice; his six great-grandchildren; his father-in-law, Malcolm Heath; also leaves to mourn a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives, family and friends. Wilfred was predeceased by his parents, Willis Rice & Sarah Regular; brothers: John, Arch and Raymond; his sisters: Olive and Pearl; and his mother-in-law, Mae Heath. The family will be receiving family and friends from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 North Main Street, Deer Lake, NL on Wednesday, June 11th, 2014 from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m., where also the funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 12th, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Marilyn Avery ­officiating. Burial to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery in Corner Brook, NL. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Cancer Society in Wilfred’s memory and would be gratefully ­appreciated by the family.
