It is with sadness we announce the passing of George Ramsay, 66, of New Waterford, on June 10, 2014, at New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in Scotchtown, he was a son of the late George and Helen (Smith) Ramsay.
George spent many years in Massachusetts, USA, later returning in 1977 to raise his family in New Waterford. George was a mechanic for 49 years and a veteran of the Vietnam War with the U.S. Army serving in the transport division. He was an avid dart player and regularly traveled to attend NASCAR races in the U.S.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Jenice (Burns); daughters, J-Lynn (Kenny) McNeil, Janna (Malcolm) Ramsay, both of New Waterford; son, George, Grande Prairie; grandchildren, Avery (Marrisa), Gavin and Cameron McNeil, William Ramsay, Karmen Ramsay; great-granddaughters, Jackelyn and Leighlah.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Friday, June 13 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A graveside service will take place Saturday, June 14 at 11 a.m. in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown, with Rev. Duncan Roach officiating.
