Ottis Lewis Winters
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ottis Lewis Winters age 66 of Amherst announce his passing Monday, June 9, 2014 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, N.S.
Born in Amherst, he was a son of the Gladys “Steeves” “Winters” Hicks of Amherst and the late Roy S. Winters.
Ottis worked for the town of Amherst for 21 years as an Animal Control Officer retiring in 2010. He also worked as a school crossing guard for many of the town schools over the years.
Ottis will be sadly missed by his son Roy Hashey and daughter Annie Hashey both of Amherst, one granddaughter Lorna Cameron of Amherst, sisters Mary (Sherman) Black, Rachel (Walter) Arsenault and Carol Winters all of Amherst, Christina (David) Dutkewick of British Columbia and Margaret (Ron) Cormier of Moncton, NB and one brother Ronald Winters of Amherst, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his father Ottis was predeceased by his common law wife Lorna Hashey and sister Lucille Marie Winters.
There will be no visitation or funeral service.
A private celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations in Ottis’ memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
