LYNDS, Russell Percy – Age 77 of Middleton passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014 in the Valley Regional Hospital with family by his side. Russell grew up in the Crowes Mills/Belmont area just outside of Truro, NS. He was the son of the late Milton Warren Lynds and Alberta Beryle (Roode) Lynds. He is survived by his wife Sharon (Hoffman) Lynds; sons Shannon (Samantha) Lynds of Torbrook, Jerry (Denise) Lynds of Halifax; grandsons Aden Lynds, BJ Whynacht; sister Ardith Tattrie and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters Mable Bonnell, Lorna MacEachern and brother Milton “Bill” Lynds. Russell graduated from Bible College in Moncton, NB then went on to train as an X-ray technician in Antigonish. He worked at the Camp Hill and Victoria General Hospitals as an orderly before coming to Middleton to work at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital as an X-ray technician, where he worked for over 25 years before retiring. Russell enjoyed being with family, spending time at "the camp" near Truro, taking photographs of family, rivers, apple blossoms, pansies, and every waterfall known to man in NS. He was also an avid music fan, enjoyed playing the piano and listening to any music by the Carter Family. At Russell’s request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902)825-3448, with Rev. Danny Smith officiating. A reception at the funeral home followed the service. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
