Born on October 27, 1935; died suddenly on June 11, 2014 as the result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born in Cameron Settlement, Roy grew up, working on the family farm. He married Judy and moved to Thorburn where they raised their family. He spent most of his career as a truck driver who knew the value of a hard day’s work. He was an honest, easy going family man with a kind heart. He loved hunting, fishing, four wheeling, music, gardening and almost anything if it meant spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
Son of the late Alvin and Bertha Cameron, Roy is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Judy (MacDonald); children: Cindy (Harlen) Cameron, Central West River; Gary (Jill) Cameron, MacLellan’s Brook; Kathy Fleet (Bill Wells), Thorburn; Sandi (Andrew) Smith, Eureka; Beth Ann Cameron (George Sharpe), MacPhersons Mills; grandchildren: Chase and Bryden Cameron, Matthew and Jenny Fleet, Anna and Maya Smith, Alex Cameron (Emma Halliday), Elliot and Ashlyn Sharpe; sisters Ruth Cameron and Muriel MacDonald; in-laws Phil and Barb Cameron, Bob and Eileen MacDonald and many nieces, nephews and friends. Roy was also awaiting the arrival of his first great-grandchild.
Roy was predeceased by sister Georgie Cameron and brother Clarence Cameron, sisters-in-law Vicki Cyrenne and Faye Potvin.
He was a member of Union Presbyterian Church and had served on the Board of Managers.
Visitation at H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on Monday, June 16 with funeral June 17 at 2 p.m. in Union Presbyterian Church, Thorburn. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, Caledonia with reception to follow at the IOOF hall in Sunny Brae.
