It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Patricia Boutilier, on Friday, June 13, 2014, at the Northside General Hospital, with her husband Earl at her side.
Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Viola (Kaizer) Spencer.
Pat worked for many years as an administrative assistant at the Northside General Hospital, retiring in 2012 due to illness.
She was a member and elder of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney and a former member of Church Session. Pat had strong faith and spoke often of the meaningful experience of attending a cursillo weekend with friends. She was also a member of the Lazy Daisies Group.
Pat is survived by her loving husband Earl; her son, Graham and his wife Gina of North Sydney; by her precious granddaughter, Claire; her brother, Stephen (Barbara) Spencer, Oshawa, Ont.; by her brother-in-law Stan MacDonald (Molly) of Ross Ferry; her sisters-in-law, Alice and Helen; by her step mother, Mary Spencer, North Sydney; by her step sisters, Patsy, Gail, Angie, Mary Arlene and step brothers, Billy and Raymond.
Besides her parents, Pat was predeceased by her sister, Mary Ann.
The family would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Bernie MacIntosh, Dr. Paul Hickey, the staff of 2 West and the palliative care team of the Northside General Hospital for the excellent care shown to both Pat and Earl over the past number of weeks.
Visitation for Pat will be 7-9 p.m. Sunday, in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. A funeral service will take place 2 p.m. Monday, from St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney, with Rev. Nick Phillips officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, ALS Society of Nova Scotia, the SPCA or the Northside Hospital Foundation.
