It is with very heavy hearts that we, the family of Angus Hubert MacLellan, 83, of Whitney Pier, announce his passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness with his family by his side, on Sunday, June 8, 2014.
Born in Scotch Lake, Cape Breton on Dec. 21, 1930, Angus was the son of the late James and Annie May (Pearo) MacLellan. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Angus worked most of his life as an auto repairman before retiring. He enjoyed Celtic music and was an avid card and dart player and musician. He loved fishing and going for long car drives in hope of seeing a deer. Angus will be remembered by family and friends for his great storytelling.
Left to mourn are Angus’s children, Margaret Anne (Eddie), Heather, Stella and Frederick (Marie), all of Sydney; step-children, Margaret (Peter), Duncan, B.C., Yvonne, Oshawa, Ont., Donna (Jim), Whitby, Ont., and Laurrie (Bob), Kingston, Ont; grandchildren, Nicholas, Courtney, Ryan, Tyler, Jessica and Amanda; step-grandchildren, Alyssa, Duncan, Damon, Taryn, Tiara, Rachel, Hannah, Sarah, David, Jonathan, Stephen, Victoria, Charmaine and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Raeven and step-great-grandchildren, Dryden, Lilly, Arden, Samantha, Jonathan and Graham. He is also survived by his first wife and good friend, Kay; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Angus was predeceased by his wife, Stella, brothers, Alvin and Leo, sisters, Eliza, Catherine, Elizabeth and Donalda.
In keeping with Dad’s wishes, there will be no visitation for cremation has taken place. Memorial service for the late Angus MacLellan will be celebrated at Pier Community Funeral Home, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church Street) on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Fr. Paul Murphy officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Angus may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Cape Breton Special Olympics.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
