It is with heavy hearts the family of Claude Gellner announces his passing on June 10, 2014. Claude was born August 8th, 1938 in Regina Sk. He was raised at Esk, Sk. where his family ran the general store and service station. In his youth Claude enjoyed playing baseball, curling and hockey. He completed his high school education in Lanigan, Sk. where he met his high school sweetheart, Joan Pickering whom he married in 1961. They settled in Swift Current where with his father and brother opened a Good Year tire shop. Later the business turned into a Datsun dealership. Claude was very active in the community having helped to bring the new clubhouse to Elmwood Golf Course and was part of the organizing of the first Bronco Golf Tournament. Claude remained active with sports throughout his life with his weekly golf games, noon hour hockey and had season tickets for the Broncos. He even at the age of 73 showed his grandchildren how he could still water ski! Claude had a passion for travelling. He and Joan were fortunate enough to see many places. They spent time in the winter in Arizona and Hawaii and also travelled to places such as Greece, Fiji and New Zealand. His favorite getaway was to his cabin. Claude's greatest passion was his family and the accomplishments of his children and his grandchildren. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Joan, children WiIl (Mandy Neufeld), Carol (Greg) Mackay, & Jackie (Dan) LeBel and his grandchildren Jordan and Tyler Gellner, Nick and Zac Mackay and Kaitlin and Veronica LeBel, his brother Norman(Vonda Wik), sister-in-law Maxine Pickering (Tony Muggli) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents William and Regina Gellner, In laws Chet and Pearl Pickering, brother-in-law William Pickering, sister-in-law Gerd Gellner and niece Janis Smith. Claude will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends. The Funeral Service was held Monday, June 16, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, Sk. with Pastor Linda Hall. The organist was Arlie Neufeld. special music Ronnie LeBel The Ushers were Curt Angell, Don Pilgrim, Larry Berg and Bob Pollock. The Pallbearers were Jordan Gellner, Tyler Gellner, Nick Mackay, Zac Mackay, Katie LeBel and Ronnie LeBel. The Interment Service took place at Hillcrest Cemetery. In Claude's memory, memorial donation may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Warren's Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
