Hilda MacLeod

Born In: Sydney

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother and aunt, Hilda Catherine (LaRusic) MacLeod.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Georgia LaRusic.
Hilda was employed in the office at Whitney’s Service Station. Here, she met her husband of 50 years, Bill 'Hook' MacLeod. Hilda was a woman of faith and was actively involved in the Westmount U.C.W. for years and was a life-member. She sang in the Westmount United Church Choir, along with Dad and many of her close friends. Hilda loved to entertain in our home, where music was the norm, especially on their anniversary, New Years Eve. Fiddles played to the wee hours, square dancing in the kitchen and an all-night buffet turned into breakfast, very happy times. Halloween was another enjoyable occasion, as it was her birthday. She loved to dress up and surprise the many little visitors with gifts and her great sense of humor was contagious. Hilda was a very good listener and a voice of reason, which is already missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bill.
Hilda is survived by her loving brother, Bernie LaRusic (Janet); sons, Billy (Heather) and Joe; daughter, Connie; grandchildren, Ashley and Rodger; and great-grandson, Andre. Mom was very close with her uncle, Charles Boyd; cousins, Patsy, Valerie and Diane; and her best friend to the end, Jean MacKay, who helped make her final days so much more comfortable. Thank you.
Visitation will take place at Westmount United Church on Friday, June 20 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place from Westmount United Church on Saturday, June 21 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Whent and Fr. Francis Cameron officiating. Interment will take place with Dad in MacDonald’s Cemetery at Ross’s Ferry, where many happy hours were spent.
Family flowers only.
Memorials may be made to the Westmount United Church Memorial Fund, CNIB or a charity of your choice.
