Jeanette Melissa  Brown

Jeanette Melissa (Mitchell) Brown, Truro, passed away in her 85th year on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in River Hebert, she was the daughter of the late Grace Ferguson (Murray) and John Burns Mitchell and stepmother, Annie Scott. She was predeceased by her husband, Roderick Brown; son-in-law, Gary Morrison; sister, Kathleen and husband, Jim Blackadar; grandson, Sean and great-grandson, Robert in infancy.
Jeanette was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Jeanette attended Normal College in Truro and subsequently taught at Onslow Elementary. A dedicated mother and grandmother she dearly loved them all. She encouraged education, enjoyed music and traveling and loved her neighbors. Her warm smile and friendships will be missed.
Sadly missed by her family, Jo, Victoria, BC, John (Aileen), Amherst, NS, Cathy (Tom) Sharkey, Truro, David (Leona Laracey), Saint John, NB, Doug (Dr. Daphne MacLean), Antigonish, NS, Ruth Morrison, Teulon, MB, Mary Ellen (Paul) Tierney, Kitchener, ON, Peter (Mary Ellen MacLeod), Mississauga, ON. She is remembered as “Grammie” to Mahia Frost (Trevor), Terrene Frost, Jenny (Rob) MacCormick, Linda and Jim Brown, Dan, Michael (Erin), Patrick (Heather) Sharkey, Roderick Brown, Neil and Norah Brown, Joanna (Devin) McCarty, Jamie Morrison, Mitchell and Ruth Tierney, Kalee and Eryn Brown; eight great-grandchildren, Liam and Emma MacCormick, Gryphon Frost and Lucas Otero, Jordin Brown, Caleb McCarty, McLaren Sharkey and Harper Sharkey. She will be sadly missed by one niece and several nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro on Thursday, June 19 from 6-8 pm with funeral service on Friday, June 20 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel, Rev. David MacNaughton officiating. Reception to follow.
Interment will take place in Robie Street Cemetery. No flowers please, however donations gratefully received to the Canadian Cancer Society of NS, Multiple Sclerosis Society of NS, Immaculate Conception Church, Truro or Trinity United Church, River Hebert would be much appreciated.
