It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather and brother, Raymond Burke on Sunday, June 15, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his lovng wife and family by his side.
Born in Lingan, he was the son of the late Felix and Henrietta (Langley) Burke.
Raymond worked in the coal mines for 40 years. He worked at Number 12 colliery and retired from Lingan mine. He was an outdoorsman. He was a hard worker and loved to be outside working in his garden. He also enjoyed going fishing and hunting. To him, his grandchildren were his world, as he loved them dearly.
He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; son, Dale (Kathy) Burke; daughters, Susan (Randy) Donohue, Sheila McIsaac; sisters, Pearl McIsaac, Lingan and Hazel Musial, Gardiner Mines; brothers, Stan Exsal, Lingan. Raymond is also survived by his grandchildren, Jamie, Devin, Corinne, Leah, Aaron and Jordan.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his grandson, Noel; brothers, Stanley, Tony and Pius and sisters, Violet, Eyvonne, Mable and Frances.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, June 21 at 10 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will take place in Mount Carmel Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the parish hall, Convent Street, New Waterford. All are welcome.
