FEVENS, Chester Robert – age 85, of Yarmouth, passed away peacefully at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on June 17, 2014. Born in Overton, Yarmouth Co, N.S., he was a son to the late Charles William Fevens and Edna Mae Gertrude (Bodge) Fevens. Chester was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who loved his family dearly. In his younger years, he worked on the Government boats Mohawk, Dollard, and The Walter Sweeney. He joined the army RCHA and served for nearly 20 years. After his service, Chester was a jail guard, taxi driver, commissionaire, and then drove the Mackenzie Bus until he retired. In his spare time he loved to go for his daily walks to Bunkers Island and pray. He loved his Lord and would often go to the wharf when foreign boats came in to hand out bibles and gospel tracks. He was known as a friendly man that always put others first. Those that knew him knew that he was a jokester and loved to tell stories. Chester also had a passion for collecting, especially boats and flags. He is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Muise), Yarmouth; daughters, Zeta (Mike) Vantassell, Kellys Cove; Betty Ann (Blair) Poole, Yarmouth; Sally Lynn (William) Scott, Moods Mill Road; Priscilla (Kenneth) Ledger, Sebec Maine; Amanda Patricia (Michael) Melanson, Amherst; son, Timothy Mark (Sabrina) Fevens, Yarmouth; stepsons, Joseph Regnald Dugas and Brian Wayne Dugas, both of Yarmouth; brothers, Ralph Fevens, Greenwood; sisters, Barbara Scoville, Yarmouth; Audrey O’Connell, Hamilton ON; Lorna Nickerson, Clarks Harbour; grandchildren; Heather, Lori, Aaron, Stephen, Melanie, Brandon, Gabby, Tawyna, Meghan, and Emily; great grandchildren, Jerikah, Brooklyn, Alex, Jackson, and baby Melanson. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Francis Atwood; brothers, Clifton Fevens and Everett Fevens. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation was held Thursday, June 19, 2014,from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm at Sweeny's Funeral Home SOUTH ROOM. The funeral service was held Friday, June 20, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Larry Pennell officiated. Interment followed in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to Needs to Deeds or the SHYFT house.
