David Lowell MacLeod

Of Borden, P.E.I. and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, passed away on June 19, 2014 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.
Born in Graham's Road, P.E.I. in 1925, he was the son of the late Ray and Gertrude MacLeod.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Elmer, Graham's Road, and Louis, Graham's Road; and sister, Margaret (Bryer Jones), Charlottetown.
David is survived by his loving wife, Pauline (MacIsaac), of 66 years, and his children, JoAnne (Preston Shea), Windsor, ON; David (Kathy McNaughton), Cole Harbour, N.S.; four grandchildren, Erin and Connor Shea (Meghan Carew); Michael and Andrew MacLeod; two great-grandchildren, Autumn and Isla Shea; sister-in-law, Edith MacLeod, Graham's Road; and many loving nieces and nephews.
David was a family man who loved his family dearly. He was a proud Second World War veteran who served as a wireless air gunner. David was a minor hockey coach who won the 1966 Provincial Championship with a small town Borden Paperweight (atom) A team. He served as chair of the local school board, trustee of P.E.I. Unit 2 School Board, Life member of Royal Canadian Legion, Life member of Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge #15 A.F. & A.M., member of P.E.I. Central Development Committee, Chair of Borden Area Economic Development Committee for which he received a commendation from Senator Callbeck and Senator Easter for his service to his community. He served as a Trustee and Elder of Borden United Church. David worked for CNR/Marine Atlantic for 39 years as a brakeman, yardman, conductor, and then assistant to Marine Superintendent.
David was a man of unconditional love and unwavering faith and he will be greatly missed.
Our heartfelt appreciation goes to the nurses and staff at Dartmouth General Hospital for their genuine compassionate care for Dad and his family.
Funeral service will held at Borden United Church, Borden, P.E.I. on Tuesday, June 24 at 1 p.m. Reception will follow in the church hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Borden United Church, Canadian Cancer Society or your charity of choice.
Internment in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Valley, P.E.I.
