Benallack, Robert "Bob" Edward Benallack, age 73, of Gull Lake, Sk. passed away June 17, 2014 at his home. The memorial Service was held Monday, June 23, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. from the Gull Lake Recreational Community Complex with Reverend Bev Diduck officiating. Music was provided by Millie Spagrud and Sharon Dahl accompanied by the Knox United Church Choir. The Life Tribute was present by Stella Countryman. The Ushers were Gregg Olson, Brad Hill and Dale and Karen Stephens. The Honorary Pallbearers were the Odd Fellows and Rebekah's, Gull Lake School Bus Drivers and all who shared in Bob's life. The Interment service took place at the Gull Lake Community Cemetery. Bob is survived by his wife Sandra; son David (Maureen) of Saskatoon; grandchildren, Shalayne (Brice) Hendriks, Jordan (Kristin Morrison) Benallack, and Lisa Benallack; great grandchildren Keegan Benallack, Candence Hendriks and Sierra and Jake Benallack; two sister Betty (Lorne) Campbell and Pearl (Wilfred) Campbell; sister-in-law Sylvia (Denis) Cyrenne; niece Shari (Steve) Robertson; aunt Janet Bublitz; brother-in-law Daryl Lloyd and Lillian Greenslade and numerous cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Clifford and Agnes Benallack; brother Albert Benallack; in-laws Erwin and Dorothy Lloyd; nephew Kirkland Jeffrey Lloyd as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents. Bob was born in Gull Lake on July 18, 1940; He attended school at the Alpine Rural School. Bob was united in marriage to Sandra Lloyd on July 24, 1964 in Gull Lake. He worked at various ranches in the area and at Penzeoil as a battery operator. He also drove school bus for 49 years, first for the Gull Lake School Unit and later for Chinook School Division. Bob also farmed east of Gull Lake for 35 years. In recent years, he enjoyed helping Ken Dutton on his farm in the spring and fall. Bob was a life time member of the Gull Lake Odd Fellows Lodge #57 and later Guardian I.O.O.F #190, Maple Leaf Rebekah Lodge #28 and until recently he was also a member of Owana Encampment and the Patriarchs Militant Canton # 2 in Saskatoon. He served as Grand Patriarch of the Grand Encampment in 1991-92 and Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Saskatchewan in 2001- 2002. He was a long time director of the I.O.O.F. Visual Research Foundation as well. Bob was a member of Knox United Church and for many years was a steward and sang in the choir. He was active in the Athletic Association while coaching minor hockey and baseball. He was a committee member of the Sask Wheat Pool at Antelope and Gull Lake and built the display areas in the shop at the Gull Lake Museum. Bob remained interested in ranch life and enjoyed his years with the Tompkins Lighthorse Club and their trail rides and horse shows. He curled at both Carmichael and Gull Lake when he was younger and recently enjoyed seeing world class curling at the woman's and men's competition in Regina, Moose Jaw and Swift Current. Bob played ball with the Aldag Eagles and liked watching the Swift Current Indians and Toronto Blue Jays play. Bob especially enjoyed the outdoors and the hunting, fishing and camping, particularly with his family and close friends. The hunting trips and sausage making projects were big events in the fall. Bob was extremely hard working. He always enjoyed being with his family. We always would know where he was as we could hear him whistling and see his dog close by. He was always busy working on a project and especially enjoyed being able to make something useful out of whatever was available. We, his family, will always treasure the example he set for us.
