Marjorie was born in the small fishing village of Brigus in Newfoundland on the 16th of February 1918 as a twin. She was much attached to her twin sister Hilda throughout their life together. They received the nickname "tweedle dum and tweedle dee" from their childhood friends. She attended Bishop Spencer College in St Johns NFLD and remained proud alumni throughout her life. She was very proud of her membership in the Pubmags, a group she formed with her closest friends in her youth. The name was made of each of the first initials of each of their names and the U stood for "unity". They continued their friendship throughout their whole lives. She married her husband Edward on the 2nd August 1943. They left their beloved Newfoundland with their two young children and moved to Sudbury in 1956. Marjorie had lived a very full life. She was employed as a secretary in Nursing services at The Sudbury General Hospital and eventually was promoted to the position of Administrator's secretary. She excelled at her job and was courted by INCO to fill a senior Admin position as the Managers admin assistant at the Copper refinery. She remained there until her retirement. Throughout her life she enjoyed socialising with many special friends, having good fun, raising a glass of sherry, enjoying a good game of bridge and a good laugh. She also enjoyed playing the slots, travelling and shopping with her close friends. She moved into the Rockcliff Seniors Cooperative and had numerous friends there as well. She was a great support to her two sons and enjoyed spending time with them. The family is planning a Celebration of Marjorie's life in September at the Wakomata Shores Resort. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Lou Gehrig society. Arrangements entrusted to Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home.
