MURIEL PATTERSON
Muriel Louise Patterson passed away at Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on June 21, 2014 at the age of 90 years. Muriel was the eldest daughter of Walter and Agnes Patterson. She was born at Moose Jaw on April 3, 1924 and raised on the farm at Mossbank. She attended secretarial school in Assiniboia after completing high school and then began her career as a secretary in 1943. The Government of Saskatchewan employed Muriel in the Department of Social Services in Regina for 35 years until her retirement in 1980. For many years she was responsible for the payments made to foster parents across the province. Muriel was a faithful United Church member, a Roughrider season ticket holder and a curler. Her favorite pastime was watching sports on TV, playing cards and visiting. She enjoyed driving her car, going on bus trips for holidays and staying in touch with her extended family and friends. Muriel moved to Moose Jaw to a personal care home in 2009. She enjoyed frequent visits from her caring sister, Irene Annand, and from family and friends. Her last days were spent at Chateau St. Michael’s and Pioneer Lodge in Moose Jaw. Muriel was predeceased by her older brother, Robert Andrew Patterson, on November 22, 1942 when he was killed during a pilot training flight in World War II and by her great nephew, Landon Burt and niece, Patty Smith-Annand. Muriel sadly lost her only sister and lifelong friend, Irene Annand, on June 8, 2013. Muriel keenly missed Irene’s care. Muriel’s brother-in-law, Bob Annand also died on June 21, 2014 at Edmonton, Alberta. Muriel is survived by her nephews, Rodney (Liz Mucha), and his children: Lisa Daniels (Daryl) and Karen Middleton (Gavin); Melvin (Imogene), and his children: Wade Annand, Lacey Wilton and Holly Annand; Glenn (Judith) and his children: Matthew Annand and Luke Annand; and her niece, Jill Burt (Phil), and her children: Adam Burt and Mataya Burt, and eight great grand-nieces and great grand-nephews.
