With saddened hearts, we the family announce the passing of Anne Henrietta Matheson on June 23, 2014 at the Glace Bay General Hospital with loving family at her side.
Born in Donkin, she was the daughter of the late William and Gertie Oldford.
Anne was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Church and Timothy Ladies Guild, she was a past president of the Ladies Auxiliary and member of Donkin Legion. Mom enjoyed a good game of bingo at Port Morien Legion, as well as many summers with family and friends at her cottage in Mira Gut.
Anne is survived by daughter Brenda (Dan) Matheson, Port Morien, sons Gerald (Jane), Martin (Elaine) of Sydney and Owen at home; sister Ada Fudge (New Brunswick); sister-in-law Anita; two grandchildren Donald (Paula) and Daryl (Brandy) and one great-grandchild Justin.
Besides parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Matheson; a son George in infancy; brothers Leslie, Albert, Joseph, Norman and sisters Beulah, Edna, Eileen, Muriel and Claudia.
Visitation for the late Anne Henrietta Matheson will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Pattern Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 2 p.m. in St. Mary’s Anglican Church with Reverend Vernon Reid officiating and interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
