Mary Jakobsen was born on February 16, 1920 in the Stanleyville district east of Prince Albert. After she completed business school she worked at the R.M. of Prince Albert until 1952 when she married Torbjorn (Tony) Jakobsen and lived on the farm south of Birch Hills. In 1953 their son David was born. Then in 1962 she went to work part-time for the R.M. of Birch Hills. After that she worked several different jobs while starting her own income tax and accounting business. She loved this job and never quit until she was in her 90’s. She was also the secretary of the Tiger Hills Community Club from 1958 to when it ended. Mary is survived by her son David (Cheryl) Jakobsen; granddaughter Jenelle Jakobsen; grandson Mark (Chantel) Jakobsen; great grandson Torbjorn Jacobsen, extended family Dawn (Donnell), Daniel and Katelyn Schlosser, Tracy (Cam) Scout, Piper and Jasper Sidam; sister Pearl Williams; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friend Joan Jakobsen. She was predeceased by her parents Frank and Nancy Almer from Frank’s Music Store; her husband Tony Jakobsen; her sisters Ruth, Dora and Luthia; brothers-in-law Willis Cunningham, Johnny Joubert, Johnny Payer and Bud Williams; her brothers John Almer and Kenneth Almer; her sisters-in-law Beatrice Almer and Marie Elmer. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at St. Mary’s St. Anne Anglican Church, Birch Hills with Reverend Chris Harper officiating. Interment will be held at the Birch Hills Cemetery. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, 2, 1124-8 Street East, Saskatoon, SK S7H 0S4.
