It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Richard Wood, age 71, of Woodpoint, NB. Richard passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at the Moncton Hospital.
Born in Sackville, he was a son of the late Earl and Jane (Sharpe) Wood.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He lived his life in and loved Woodpoint. He worked for many years at Moloney Electric.
He is survived by sisters Joyce (Russell) Stokes, Woodpoint, NB, Helen (Paul) Holtzer, Greenburg, PA, Sandra (Klaus) Vogel, Hadashville, MB, Carol Ann (Arnold) Hicks, Woodpoint, Deborah (Royden) Sandwich, Fredericton, NB; Brothers Harry (Sharon), Woodpoint, NB, Rupert (Glenna), Elliot Lake, ON, John (Lois), Woodpoint, NB, Robert (Eva), Haisla, BC, Ricky, Woodpoint; step-children Gordon Wells, Stephen (Debbie) Wells, Carman (Gillian) Wells, Richard (Vera) Wells, and Norman (Lori) Wells; step great grandchildren, Willis, Kimberly, Christopher, Tanya, Natasha, Pieter, Andrew, Robyn, Rebecca, Carman, Anthony, and Morgan; brother-in-laws, Leo Robinson, Woodstock, NB and Charlie Atkinson, West Sackville, NB; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Betty Green, Delores Robinson, and Kathleen Atkinson; brother Donald.
Richard's arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, (364-1300) where visiting hours will take place on Wednesday, June 25, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the Jones Funeral Home on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 2 pm, Pastor Paul Bedford officiating. A private graveside service will take place at a later date.
Those wishing to make a donation in Richard's memory may do so to the Woodpoint Baptist Church, or the charity of your choice.
