Gwendolyn Hatt

HATT, Gwendolyn May –85 of Kingston, Nova Scotia passed away Sunday, June 22, 2014 in Grand View Manor, Berwick, NS. Born in Stark, New Hampshire, she was a daughter of the late H. Arthur and Phoebe (Leighton) Robbins. Gwendolyn grew up in Norway, Maine. In her youth she received the Lord Jesus as her Saviour. Before long she began teaching children in Sunday School, Junior Church, Bible Clubs and Youth Groups. Feeling God’s call to serve Him, she graduated from Providence Bible College in Rhode Island. She worked briefly in New York State under the Bible Club Movement. Under their auspices, she came to Nova Scotia where she worked with children in Queens and Lunenburg Counties for 15 years. In 1965 she married Rev. W. Lincoln Hatt of Kingston, Nova Scotia. Before long she was again doing the thing she loved best, teaching children at Bible Baptist Church in Greenwood, NS and conducting Bible Clubs. Some substitute teaching was done at Kingston Bible College Academy and for 16 years she taught a course in Child Evangelism at the College. Also, she assisted her husband in volunteer work holding Sunday services at Mountain Lea Lodge, Bridgetown, Shady Rest Home, Berwick and Welton’s Corner Rest Home. Now she is with the Lord Jesus whom she loved and served. Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter Elissa (Thomas) Brown, Bloomington, Annapolis County; son Jeffery Fredericks, South Williamston; grandchildren Savannah Brown, Bloomington and Melissa (Alex) Demmons, Alberta. She was predeceased by her husband Rev. W. Lincoln Hatt; sister Marita Hunton; brother Shirley Andrew Robbins; half -sisters Thelma Beck, Claire Alexander and Malverda Churchill; foster son Gardell Fredericks. Visitation was held Wednesday, June 25th in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., (902 825-3448). The funeral service was held Thursday, June 26th in Faith Baptist Church, Greenwood with Rev. Keith Jenereaux officiating. Interment will be in the North Kingston Cemetery. Donations in memory may be made to the Faith Baptist Church or the Kingston Bible College and Academy.
