Hazel Mulhall

Passed on: June 19th, 2014

Mulhall: Hazel Alice Mulhall (nee Seafoot) of Gull Lake, SK. passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2014 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, SK. at the age of 94. Hazel was born September 10th, 1919 on the family farm south of Webb with her Grandmother Duby performing midwife services. She attended Banks School in the Clairbank district. On November 16th, 1941 she married the love of her life, Gerald Mulhall and celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing. Hazel and Gerald were blessed with two children, Gay and Bill. Hazel was a devoted wife and mother and a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed baking, cooking and keeping her home very clean and tidy. She spent hours with her crochet and needlework hobbies making Afghans, dishcloths, table runners and table cloths.
Friends and family were always welcome as she would put on the coffee pot and serve her delicious baking or a tasty meal. Due to her failing eyesight she had to give up her craft work and cooking on her own. Under her guidance, Bill took over most of the cooking and shared the house care routines. Bill purchased a 55" TV so Hazel could continue watching her favorite programs. Bill was a devoted caregiver and because of him, Hazel was able to enjoy being home where she loved to be. Hazel also was provided excellent care from her many home care aides, her hairdresser, her good friends Peggy Willman and Linda Cooke, and her niece Arlette Allen. Having poor eyesight didn't stop Hazel as she was busy every day doing household chores and as much food preparation as she could. Her mind was very sharp right to the end. Hazel was predeceased by her husband Gerald in August 1993. Hazel's family received another blow with the passing of her daughter Gay Gawron after a battle with cancer in July 2006. Their's was a very special mother-daughter bond. Hazel was also predeceased by her father William Seafoot in 1930, and her mother Alice Covell (Seafoot) in 1982; her parents in law Richard and Ethel Mulhall; her stepfather Joseph Covell; brothers Orval Covell and Durward Seafoot; sisters Phyllis Shelley and Freda Newman and numerous other dear relatives and friends. She is survived by her son Bill Mulhall of Gull Lake, grandsons Daren (Shirley) Gawron and Devin Gawron of Sherwood Park, AB; Granddaughter Dawnette (Justin) Miles of Canmore, AB.; Great-grandchildren Sammie Jo (Pat) Hoots, Travis Freake, Tyler and Brandon Orcutt, Keira and Chase Miles and Great-Great-Grandchildren Isabelle and Ryder Hoots; Nieces Arlette (Steven) and Alyssa Allen of Luseland, SK.; Nephews Mark (Christi) and Jay Covell of Swift Current, SK., Bob Newman of Toronto, ON., and Jamie Allen of Luseland, SK. She is also survived by her Sisters-in Law Evelyn (George) Edmonds (Covell) of Saskatoon, SK., Mary Bernard (Mulhall) of Windsor, Ontario, Rose Mulhall of Swift Current, SK., Lorraine Mulhall of Red Deer, AB. and Brother-in-law Leo (Jeanette) Mulhall of Prince Albert, SK as well as many more nieces, nephews and cousins. Hazel will be dearly missed by all that knew her. In Hazel's memory, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Warren's Funeral Home was in care of the arrangements. The graveside service was held at the Gull Lake Cemetery at 2:00 on Friday June 27th, 2014 with Reverend Bev Diduck officiating. Family and friends gathered at the Gull Lake Elks Hall from 2:30-4:30 for a luncheon served by the Clairbank Community Club.
