McCULLOCH, ANNIE MAY (SCAMMELL) - The passing of Annie M. McCulloch occurred on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at the Pine Grove Nursing Home, Fredericton, NB. Born in Fredericton on December 10, 1911, a daughter of the late Walter and Daisy (MacKay) Raymond. Annie was a lifelong resident of Fredericton. She was a 1933 graduate of the Victoria Public Hospital School of Nursing and following her nursing career she was the Private Duty Nurses Registrar for many years. She was later employed in the Personnel Department at the Victoria Public Hospital until her retirement. She was a member of St. Anne’s Christ Church (Parish) Church, Fredericton. Annie was an active member of the Nurses Alumnae, the Daughters of England and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4, Fredericton, where she held various offices. She enjoyed painting and was a member of the Senior Oil Painting Club as well as an avid bowler and shuffleboard player. She is survived by two sons, Douglas (Doug) Scammell and wife Loreen of Lower Queensbury, NB and Richard Scammell and wife Denise of Troy, NY; a daughter-in-law Margaret Scammell of Beaver Dam, NB; a stepson Robert McCulloch; a stepdaughter Alexandra (Sandy); seven grandchildren Roby, Jamie (Carolyn), Ian, Tim (Cheryl), Lisa, Heather (Rob) and Jennifer (Chris); twelve great grandchildren Linnet, Patrick, Sarah Jane, twins Jarrod and Dalton, twins Tyler and Braydon, Robbie, Abbey, Olivia, Emily and Caitlyn; two grandsons-in-law, Peter Feldmann and Ronnie Peterson; several nieces and nephews. Aside from her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Douglas T. Scammell in 1961, her second husband Alexander McCulloch in 1972, her eldest son James R. Scammell in 1999, a brother Walter Raymond, two sisters Kathleen Thorpe and Florence Trecarten, two granddaughters Megan and Hayley.
Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a funeral service with Rev. Bob Barry officiating. The Ladies Auxilary, Branch #4 will hold a tribute service at the funeral. Interment will be in the Rural Cemetery Extension. A reception will be held following the Interment at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #4 Queen Street. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice. The family wish to express their sincere thanks to all the Nurses, Staff and Support Staff for the care and love shown to Mom during her time at both Gagetown Special Care Home and Pine Grove Nursing Home.
