SMITH, PEARL - It is with heavy hearts that the family of Pearl Smith of New Maryland announces her passing at the White Rapids Nursing Home on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the age of 86. Born in Wales, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Lily (Price) Kerton. Pearl was a past member of the A.C.W. and danced 32 years with the Elm Tree Square Dancing Club. Pearl is survived by her husband of 66 years; Merle; two daughters Brenda Currie of Beaverdam, Kathy Kenney of Fredericton; one son Charles Smith (Debbie) of Nashwaak Bridge, NB; seven grandchildren Angela Noble (Jeff Forgrave), Robert Noble (Pam), Carla Currie (April), Jessica Kenney, Andrew Kenney, Laura Barrett (Bob), Nicole Smith; four great grandchildren Jamie Lee Noble, Benjamin Currie, Hannah Barrett and Addie Barrett; one sister Rose Charters of Charters Settlement; several nieces, nephews & cousins. Predeceased by her parents; daughter Cheryl Lily Smith; nephew Angus Kerton as well as seven brothers; five sisters.
Visitation for Pearl will be from Bishop’s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Wednesday July 2, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 3 at 11 AM from Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 1224 Rte. 101 Beaverdam with Rev. Canon Bruce MacKenna officiating. Interment will be held at St. Mary the Virgin Cemetery. Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the White Rapids Nursing Home, Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of the donor’s choice.
