RATHBURN, EDNA E. - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Edna E. Rathburn which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, June 29, 2014. Born 1933 in Tracy, NB, she was the daughter of the late Edgar and Jennie (Jones) Rodgerson. Edna loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known to her grandchildren as "Nanny by the Bay". She had a great love for animals and enjoyed shopping, travelling and baking. Edna is survived by her sons, Marvin (Kathleen) of Saint John and Karl (Tammy) of Grand Bay-Westfield; daughters, Marie Allen of Saint John, Dale McNeil (Lonney) of Moncton, Carolyn Howe of Saint John, Sharon Lambert (Jack) of French Village, Euphemia Beddow (Liam) of Peterborough, ON, Rose Sudsbear (Kenneth) of Kingston and Lisa Latouche (Andrew) of Calgary, AB; brother, Bruce Rodgerson (Judy) of Saint John; sisters, Alice Kennedy of Minto, NB, Hazel Rodgerson of St. Martins, Isabel Rodgerson of Grand Bay-Westfield and Donna Cyr of Saint John; sister-in-law, Loretta Rodgerson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; as well as cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents, Edna was predeceased by her husband, Delbert; brothers, Douglas, Bill, Leonard and Fred; sister, Shirley; and brothers-in-law, Charlie and Dennis.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held on Wednesday, July 2 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A memorial service will take place from the Fundy Funeral Home chapel on Thursday, July 3 at 11:00 am. Interment will take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date.
