On June 29, 2014, Margie passed away peacefully at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay on Sept. 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late John Archie and Ruth MacDonald.
Mom was blessed to have two loving husbands to share her life, Steve Shewchuck and Ron Holman.
In her younger years Margie was employed at Bonnell’s Furniture Store, People’s Store, and Canadian Tire. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved to bake and share with others. She belonged to the ladies auxiliary of the Tower Road Fire Hall for years.
She is survived by daughters, Jean Marie (Marcel) Pettipas, Ruthie (Earl) King, Kathy (Richard) Latour; son Stephen Shewchuck and his wife Ruth who became her fourth daughter; sister Ruth MacLeod; stepdaughter Jackie (Phil) Meakes England; brother-in-law Met Shewchuck, along with six loving grandchildren whom she adored Brad, Craig, Gillian, Leon, Stephanie and Jordan; eight great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husbands, Margie was predeceased by her six brothers, Philip (Agnes), William (Katie), Graham (Irene), Emmerson (Ann), Freeman and Louis.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will take place Thursday, July 3 at 11a.m. in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.

The family would like to thank Dr. Carol Boutilier, Dr. Paula Creighton, Dr. Tom Hewlett and staff, Dr. Christine Mayer and Dr. Roxburgh who was always her friend and supporter. Also there is much appreciation to C.B. County Homemakers, whose caregivers became like family to us and helped Mom to remain in her home.
