Doris Logan

LOGAN, DORIS MARIE – Doris Marie “Dussie” Logan died Monday June 30th, 2014 at Embassy Hall, Shannex in Quispamsis. She was born to the late Malcolm and Nellie Logan, February 1923 in Saint John. Doris is survived by her nieces, Brenda Sparks of Grand Bay; Janet and Allen Gorham of Harding’s Point, Dorothy Jackson of Saint John North, Beverly and Rev. Edward Powell of Grand Bay; Diane and Chris Hammond of Kingston, ON; sister-in-law Ruth Logan and many great nieces and nephews. Doris was the oldest of three and the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her sister Audrey MacPherson Weatherhead and her brother Walter A. Logan of Fairvale, NB. She was also predeceased by her nephews Malcolm C. (Mack) MacPherson and Malcolm E. Logan. An employee of International Paints for all her working life 1942-1988, she retired at age 65. Her lifelong best friends of Portland United Church and the Jane Henderson Society were real blessings in her life. Preparing meals for weddings were some of her happiest times. Doris was an avid reader of mystery novels and also a member of Community Concert at Saint John High School. Trips to Florida and summering in Grand Manan for many years have been a major positive influence on her and her family. Early in her life she became one of the first of three women pilots in the city of Saint John, an accomplishment her family is still amazed at, since her poor driving skills were a family joke.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). By her request there will be no visitation. A private funeral service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
