June 12, 1944 – June 26, 2014

Wilf passed away at home with his family on June 26th 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer. Wilf was born on June 12th 1944 in Rosthern, SK. Shortly thereafter the family moved to Saskatoon. Wilf will be sadly missed by Millie, his high school sweetheart, who then became his loving wife of 50 years; his children: Terri Sawchuk (Daryl), Todd (Charlene Gallant); his grandchildren: Amber Leverton (Ryan), Erin Illingworth (Mathew) and great grandson William Leverton. Wilf leaves to mourn his passing, brothers: Wes (Arlene), Gerald (Bernice), Barry (Shirley) and sisters: Eileen Stanton, Sherry McAllister (Harry); as well as many nieces and nephews. Wilf was predeceased by his parents Abe and Elsie; two bothers in infancy; brother-in-law John Stanton and niece Kim McGilligott (nee Dyck). Wilf started his working career as a mechanic at Royal Lite Garage on Idylwyld Drive. He then took a position with Canada Post and worked there for 32 years until his retirement in 1999. One of Wilf’s many ccomplishments during this time was building a home for his family. Wilf then helped build two more houses for friends. Wilf was a skilled handyman and mechanic and this was evident in his workmanship. Wilf believed that to be a part of your community you must be involved in your community. Subsequently, he became President of the Westview Community Association, Assistant Coach and Manager of many minor hockey teams as well as Vice President of the Saskatchewan Minor Hockey Association. He also had many other hobbies including carpentry, bowling, curling and his absolute favorite, golf. All of which he contributed to the education and promotion of. After retirement, Wilf and Millie made their cottage at McPhee Lake their permanent home. To Wilf’s delight, Elkridge Resort was built and Wilf was able to make his favorite pastime a great retirement job as a Marshall at Elkridge. Wilf and Millie were fortunate enough to exchange McPhee winters for Arizona sun - which included more golf and good times with great friends. Wilf was a loving, kind and generous man. He enjoyed every minute he spent with Millie, his children, grandchildren and great grandson. They all knew they were unconditionally loved and cherished. Wilf died as he lived, with Integrity, pride and dignity. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
