It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and dear friend, Eita Lewis.

Born in Paradise, N.L., she was the daughter of the late Francis and Angela (Whiffen) Mulrooney.
Newf was a very special person who touched the hearts of all who knew her. A mother, grandmother and friend to her family and to all who came into her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 38 years Russell Lewis; her daughters, Bryn (Joseph), Gloria (Michael); son Merle (Laura-Lee); grandchildren, Leaha, Savanah, Kayleigh, Christian, Tristen and Destiny; sisters, Faustina, Aureila, Debbie (Allie), Jackie; brothers, Lawrence, Francis (Judy); sisters-in-law, Theresa, Deanna (Danny), Carol; brothers-in-law, Ernest (Raylene) and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and friends.

Newf was a lady who loved life. Friends and family were the most important thing in her life. She took care of everyone who crossed her doorstep or needed a helping hand of any kind. She would give you the shirt off her back. She raised her family, and a few others, with love and respect for everything and everyone. She worked hard alongside Russell in the family business and also in the home for years. Whether it was clothes needed to be made or mended, meals needed to be cooked, roofs needed mending, transmissions needed to be stripped, she was there on the front line to put in her blood, sweat and tears to make sure her family had everything they wanted or needed.
Newf you have left a void that no one in this world could ever fill. Our hearts pain today and forever. As our hearts begin to mend over the coming minutes, hours, days and years the good times and love you gave us all will be in our hearts today and forever.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 4, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with a celebration of life to follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
