MCDONALD, ANNIE BRIDGET - Annie Bridget McDonald passed away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on July 2nd, 2014 at the age of 96. Born in Devon, NB on June 8th, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Nellie (Dinsmore) Bowlen. Although a stay-at-home mom, Annie spent 43 years providing love, compassion and wonderful care to her invalid daughter; room and board to many UNB students and great memories to her family, relatives and friends during the nearly 60 years she lived on Dundonald Street. Annie is survived by her daughters, Ann Marie Bakker of Oakville, Janet (Ken) Prevost of Ottawa and Cathy (Stephen) Conn of New Maryland; grandchildren, Michael Bakker (Marci) of Burlington, Jay Bakker of Toronto, Tim Bakker (January) of St. Albert and Pat Bakker (Rachael) of Burlington; Chris, Jennifer and Simon Prevost all of Nepean and Andrew Conn (Amy) of Fredericton, Gregory Conn of Charlottetown and Justin Conn of Calgary; great grandchildren, Elle, Nolan, Avery, Alyssa, Matthew, and Emma-Grace and sister, Ellen Leonard of Banff. Annie is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Michael A. McDonald, who passed in 1979; daughter, Mary Lou, who passed in 1990; brothers, Joe and Charlie Bowlen; sisters, Lenora Nicholls and Eileen LaPointe and son in law, Gerry Bakker. The family would like to send their deepest appreciation to the staff of Windsor Court for the care the staff provided Annie during the five years she resided there. They would also like to thank the staff of 4NE at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital for the care they provided Annie in her final days. The family is saddened by her passing, but happy for her peace and thankful for all those wonderful memories she provided them.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, Fredericton, NB on Monday, July 7th, 2014 from 6 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 8th, 2014 with Fr. Monte Peters as celebrant. After Mass, all are welcome to a reception in the church hall, followed by the interment in the Hermitage Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the St. Anthony's Building Fund, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
