It is with broken hearts we wish to announce the passing of our dear mother and wife, Sophie, on July 4, 2014 at New Waterford Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Angela (Sweda) Michalik of Glace Bay.
Sophie worked in Phalen Bakery, Glace Bay, and Maple Hill Manor, New Waterford where she left behind many special friends.
She is survived by her husband Frank and son Joseph; sisters, Angela Michalik, Martha Ward, both of Glace Bay, Mary Michalik, Halifax; brothers, Walter and Stan, both of Glace Bay, as well as many nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will be held Wednesday, July 9 at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue with burial to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery.
