SWAINE, GORDON - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden death of our husband and father Gordon Wayne Swaine, husband of Rita (King) Swaine of Miramichi, NB, Which occurred July 10, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 67. Born in Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late Dorothea (Bell) Swaine and the late Vince Swaine. Gordon had a love for the outdoors and animals. He also enjoyed working in his yard and on his vehicles. He worked at the local paper mill for 36 years before retiring from UPM in 2000. Gordon’s life was devoted to his family. He enjoyed his six grandchildren as well as skating, skiing, snowshoeing, swimming and Tai Chi. Gordon was a great friend, always there to help out family, friends and neighbours with anything they needed. He also enjoyed travelling with his wife Rita and family gatherings. Besides his wife Rita he is survived by his three children Jeffery Swaine (Esther) of Miramichi, Kevin Swaine (Jennifer) of Miramichi and Kathryn MacDonald (Jason) of Derby. He is also survived by his six grandchildren who dearly love him: Mitchell and Lauryn Swaine, Addyson and Erica Swaine and Gracie and Reese MacDonald and his beloved dog Rex and cat Alf. Sister-In Law Maureen English (David) and Mary King (the Late Tom King) and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he is predeceased by his special aunt Hazel (Bell) Hanley and Uncle Ray Hanley. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff and the Miramichi Regional Hospital and Saint John Regional Hospital for the attention and care they gave to Gordon and his family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Heart Stroke Foundation or memorial of ones choice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11am from St Michael's Basilica Miramichi, NB with Fr John Fraser officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations to the New Brunswick Heart & Stroke Foundation or the memorial of ones choice would be appreciated.
