Passed peacefully away at the Carbonear General Hospital on Sunday, July 13, 2014, Jean Burden of Blackhead, age 88 years. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend; a wonderful baker, gardener and knitter. Predeceased by brothers: Eric Dawe and Malcolm (Violet) Dawe and sister: Lillian (Harry) Noseworthy. Leaving to mourn her husband of 65 years, George; daughter: Glenda (Daniel) Pike, Carbonear; two grandchildren: Susan (Robin) and Joshua; sister: Annie (Varrick) Newell, Mount Pearl; sister-in-law: Viola Dawe, Coley's Point; also a number of other relatives and friends. Resting at Noel's Funeral Home, Main Highway, Western Bay on Monday, 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Funeral service to take place on Wednesday, July 16 at 1:30 p.m. from Ocean View United Church, Broad Cove. Interment in the United Church Cemetery, Blackhead.
