Kenneth "Ken" George Thompson

Thompson, Kenneth “Ken” George , P. Eng. , 95, Truro died peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 13, 2014. He pursued a career as an engineer, serving as Town Engineer of Truro, retiring in 1984. He was past president of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia and served with many other organizations during his life. During the Second World War, he served in the army medical core and also became an R.C.A.F. Pilot. Born in New Annan, he settled in Truro where he spent his working years and subsequent retirement. He is survived by his sons, Greg (Andrew) and Kirby (Karla), his grandsons Kristopher and Kelsey , and his sister Pearl MacKay. He is fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Irene, and nieces and nephews Mac, Raymond and Helen and many in-laws. His much loved wife, Janet, passed away in 1983. He was predeceased by half-sisters Lola and Christine and siblings Janie, Bess, Minnie, and Ray . A Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 Tribute Service will begin at 5:30 pm on Wednesday, July 16 followed by visitation from 6-8 pm at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro; funeral service on Thursday, July 17 at 2:00 pm in First United Church,711 Prince Street, Truro with Rev. Roger Moore officiating. Interment in Robie Street Cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory may be made to First United Building Fund or Colchester East Hants Health Centre Foundation. His passing followed the way he chose to live his life: quietly and without fuss.
We shall always cherish his friendliness and good humour.
