Barbara Louise Dunlop

Barbara Louise Dunlop, nee Matheson, passed away Friday, July 11th, 2014 at home in Kentville, N.S. Born January 24th, 1933 in Glen William, P.E.I., she was the youngest child of the late Angus and Mary (MacPhee) Matheson.
Educated in a one-room schoolhouse in rural P.E.I., she trained as a teacher at Prince of Wales College in Charlottetown and at Dalhousie University. She taught at the school at RCAF Summerside.
She married George Dunlop, an Air Force officer, in 1955, and went on to live the nomadic life of a military family, raising three children as the family moved from P.E.I. to N.S., B.C., California, ONT. and West Germany.
Upon retirement, she and her husband moved to Annapolis Royal, N.S., where they ran a bed and breakfast, and then Upper Clements and lastly to Kentville.
She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Anne and Mary; brothers, Alexander and Callum. She is survived by her husband, George; three children, Malcolm, Colleen (Sharpe), and Robert; and eight grandchildren.
A memorial event will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Doctors Without Borders or a charity of your choice is appreciated.
