Maurice Henry Aley
February 10, 1925 – July 14, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father and grandfather Maurice Aley on July 14, 2014 at Mont St. Joseph Home. Maurice was the youngest of two children born to Francis and Mabel Aley on February 10, 1925 in Blaine Lake, SK. He lived and worked on the family farm until age 18, then joined the Canadian Army and completed his basis training just prior to the war ending in 1945. On his return home he was struck down by TB and spent many months recuperating at the Prince Albert Sanatorium. All was not lost though as his time in “The San” led to many lifelong friendships. When his health returned he purchased the canteen at the San and hired a pretty young girl he’d met there and taken a fancy to. The relationship soon blossomed and the young girl Jean Boyko, became Mrs. Jean Aley on June 30, 1956. Their union was blessed with 2 daughters, then years later, 2 granddaughters. Maurice’s career path led him to electronics and he spent many years operating his own repair business, Ace TV and Radio. He completed his last years in the work force teaching Radio and TV Electronics at the Prince Albert Penitentiary and SIAST. Maurice retired in 1990 and enjoyed the freedom to spend more time with his family and doing the things he loved. He was a devoted and caring husband and when Jean’s health failed he was constantly by her side. After her passing in 2009, he maintained his independence living in the house he built in 1957 until his strength failed last October. Das was a gentle quiet man. He had a profound love for nature and was happiest with his family going for drives in the country, walks in the forest, picking wild berries, or going on the annual spring crocus hunt. He was a self taught handyman and looked after any home or car repairs with the skill of a tradesman. Dad had an understanding and accepting spirit and had the ability to see the good in people and make the best of any situation. Dad will be remembered for his kindness and generosity and quiet strength. He was always present to assist with a project to provide encouragement, to offer good advice and or a shoulder to cry on. There was nothing more important to Dad than his family and no matter what the circumstance his unconditional love could always be counted on. Maurice will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his children, Lendra Aley of Prince Albert and Brenda Aley of Saskatoon; his grandchildren Cassandra Paul (Shawn Ethier) and Nicole Paul and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Jean; his parents Francis and Mabel Aley; his brother Leonard Aley; his father and mother-in-law John and Alexandra Boyko and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at St. David Anglican Church, 500 – 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with The Reverend Norbert Haukenfrers officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan, 279 – 3rd Avenue N, Saskatoon, SK S7K 2H8 or to The Parkinson Foundation of Canada, 390 Bay St. Suite 710, PO Box 19341, Stn BRM B, Toronto, ON M7Y 3M1.
