Stewart 'Ross' Rudderham
Born: October 5th, 1930
With sorrow, the family of Stewart Ross Rudderham wish to announce his peaceful passing at the age of 83.
Born and raised in Whitney Pier, Ross was the son of the of the late Joseph Willard and Alexanderia (Dixon) Rudderham.
In 1945, Ross started his career in the family business and became president in 1965. With his work ethic, his partners and staff grew the business from six employees to 250 and expanded from Cape Breton Island throughout Atlantic Canada. He was active in the business and construction communities and served on various committees and boards of directors throughout Cape Breton Island and also invested in many small business ventures, while supporting start up entrepreneurs.
He is survived by his eight children, Robert (Betty Lou), Selma, Skip (Ann), Terry, Corey (Karen), Craig, Tammy (Luke) and Jody (Barb); grandchildren, David, Kristen, Jennifer, Michael, Alexis, John Ross, Inez, Stuart, Stephen, Sarah, Scott, Jeffrey and Crystal; great- grandchildren, Darian, Danielle, Kenzie, Liam, Colton, Aubrey, Benedickte and Rupert; sisters, Selma Doucet and Cordella Oliver; brothers, Emerson, Nelson and Wilson.
Ross was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Chris and his brothers, Lewis and Frank.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday, July 20th, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21st, at St. Alban’s Anglican Church, Whitney Pier, with Archdeacon Weldon Smith presiding. Interment in Hardwood Cemetery, with a reception to follow at Sydney Memorial Chapel.
Family flowers only. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
