WOODWORTH, JEAN EDNA - It is with sadness that the family of Jean Woodworth announces her death at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on July 17th, 2014 at the age of 84. Born in Shirley, NB, on January 9th, 1930, she was the wife of the late Deverne "Bud" Woodworth of Fredericton. Jean leaves behind many special nieces and nephews including David McLeod (Sheryl), Geraldine Kelly (Brian) and Brenda Jewett (Merton). In addition to her husband of 63 years, Bud, Jean was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth and Edna (Lawson) McLeod; sister, Thelma Parsons and her husband Raymond; brother, Howard McLeod and his wife Eloise; and nieces, Patricia and Shyanne Hoben. All her adult life, Jean was a homemaker. Her friendly personality helped her in her interests as a volunteer and as a United Church Women (UCW) member. She was honoured multiple times by the Volunteer Bureau of Fredericton for her work in the Adult Day Program at York Manor. Jean was a very active member of the UCW for over 40 years. It was an aspect of her Christian faith that she was dedicated to, helping in any way she could.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York Street, on Sunday, July 20th, 2014 from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held from the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, July 21st at 1 pm with Rev. J.D. Kennedy officiating, assisted by Rev. H.G. MacKenzie. Interment will be in the Douglas Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Jean's memory can be made to the Nashwaaksis United Church, Canadian Cancer Society or the charity of the donor's choice.
