BUCKLEY, PHYLLIS JOY - On Friday, July 18, 2014, Phyllis J. (Alberts) Buckley, loving wife of the late Robert J. Buckley, passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital surrounded by her loving family. Born December of 1941 in Saint John, NB, she was the daughter of the late Percy and Nellie (Chase) Alberts. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Phyllis is survived by her daughter Gayle Buckley of Rothesay; son Brian (Jocelyne) Buckley; two grandchildren Blaze and Chanel, great-granddaughter Annabelle all of Ottawa, ON; aunt Joy McKenzie of Saint John and; sisters-in-law; several nieces, nephews and friends. Phyllis was known for her love of knitting and playing cards, but most of all for her love of children. Her grandchildren will remember her travelling to Ottawa just to see them; trips that will always be cherished. She will be deeply missed by her best friend Agnes O’Donnell for whom she loved to shop with on Fridays; her cousin Connie Pierce, and by all who had the pleasure to know her. In addition to her parents and husband, Phyllis was predeceased by her brothers Johnny and Bill “Buster”; sister Gladys Beman; brother-in-law Clint Buckley and nephew Bobby Joe Beman.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation Sunday, July 20th from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street, on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in Phyllis’s memory may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
