Phillip Gossard

Phillip Johnson Gossard passed away on Friday, July 11th in St. Paul's Hospital in Saskatoon. He had been coping with chronic emphysema for almost three years. Phil was born November 15, 1936 to Ella Mae Gossard (Servold) and Cletion Johnson Gossard, exactly five days before Jean Catherine Harris, whom he would marry on July 26, 1958. Both were born and raised in Cabri, where they became high school sweethearts and eventually husband and wife. Phil and Jean had four children: Laurie May (Ron Palmer), Kelly Dewayne (Tracey Scott), David Cletion (Elizabeth Sutton), and Neil Phillip. Phil was predeceased by his parents, his wife, his brother, Jerry, and his daughter-in-law, Toby Gossard (née Fryer). Phil is survived by his sister-in-law, Patricia Gossard (née Castagner), children and eight grandchildren: Alexa Doré Batsel (Kyle Batsel), Rebecca Jean Palmer (Cody Brown), Krisanne Marie Gossard (Cody Johnstone), Kathryn Ella Palmer (Kevin Petty), Danielle Kelly Gossard, Sydney Lenore Gossard (Jay Galecki), Phillip Anthony Gossard and Jeff Interbitzen (Kristina Noah). Phil greatly appreciated his network of friends and family. He loved farming, fishing, sports, hunting, blackjack, and travelling. During his life he was fortunate enough to do all of these things: whether it was travelling the world with his family, going on fishing and hunting trips with friends, following his grandchildren's activities, or just sitting in his comfy recliner watching the Blue Jays— Phil filled his life with the things he loved. A few years ago, Phil told his family, "One thing I can say for sure is that I won't complain about missing out on doing the things I wanted to do. We did lots of things and went lots of places. I've done it all." The Memorial Service was held Friday, July 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Cabri Community Hall Memorial with Max Kirkpatrick officiating. In memory of Phil, donations may be made to the Prairie Health Care Centre Auxiliary Box 79 Cabri, Saskatchewan S0N 0J0. Phil and Jean will be placed to rest together in the Cabri Cemetery.
