GILKS, CAROLIN RUTH - 1951 – 2014 - It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Carolin Ruth Gilks who passed away on July 21, 2014 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Doaktown, NB on June 18, 1951 daughter of the late Jean and Cyril Gilks. Carolin is survived by her loving spouse June Martin; daughters, Michelle Hirschfeld (Dennis) and Jill Doucet (Troy); sisters, Lucinda Knox (Greg), Valerie Washburn (Fred), and Wilma Bretzke; brothers, Alvin, Brian, and Garth (Janice) Gilks; grandchildren, Emma, Ava, and Ethan Doucet, and several nieces and nephews. Carolin was predeceased by her parents Cyril and Jean Gilks; son, Christopher; brother, Wayne and sister Carol.
There will be no visitation by family request. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at 2:00 PM with a reception to follow. The Right Rev. Bill Hockin will officiate assisted by The Rev. Joyce Perry. There will be no interment at this time. Donations to the Cancer Society (Brain Tumor) would be appreciated.
