PETERSEN, WANDA DORENE - The passing of Wanda Dorene Petersen of Fredericton, NB, wife of Basil Raymar Petersen occurred on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on October 29, 1943 in Minto, NB, she was the daughter of the late Walter Ackerson and the late Helen McLean. Wanda was a volunteer canvasser for the Canadian Cancer Society and the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading and doing puzzles. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed her cat “Mittens”. Most recently, Wanda found comfort at the Church of Nazarene. In addition to her husband, Wanda is survived by her daughter, Rosanna Stafford of Fredericton, NB; sons, Jim Stafford (Jennifer Gerrow) of Oromocto, NB and Allan Stafford of Barrie, ON; step daughter, Lynn Petersen of Barrie, ON; grandchildren, Matthew Stafford, Anthony Stafford and Madison “Maddie” Paul all of Fredericton, NB; great grandchildren, Bentley and Skylar; sisters, Mavis Saunders (Roger) of Barrie, ON and Leona Foisy (Joe) of Edmonton, AB; brother, Ronnie Ackerson (Jean) of Williams Lake, BC; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, with no funeral service by request.
