Larry "Sherm" Phillips

PHILLIPS, LARRY JEROME "SHERM" - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the death of Larry Jerome Phillips "Sherm" at the Oromocto Public Hospital on July 22, 2014 after a long battle with Alzheimers. Sherm was born in Tracy on March 27, 1937. During his life time he was a woodsman, carpenter and did various other jobs for M.E. Phillips and Son. His last 9 years of work were at what is now Marwood. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and going on his ATV as long as he was able. Family was the focus of his life, especially his wife of 52 years, his children and nieces and nephews who often tagged along fishing and playing games. Sherm is predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Geneva Phillips, as well as Lewis Golden and Eugenia Golden Drummond who he came to live with at the age of 14; four half-brothers, Ronald Golden, Clair Golding, Duane Golding and Douglas (Puzz) Golding; one half-sister Elvina (Peen) Bunkosky, three sister-in-laws, Mildred Golding, Mary Golding and Janet Golden, a brother Donnie, a sister Kay Daw, two nieces Kimberley Golden Nesbit and Karen Golden. Sherm is survived by his wife Violet, one son John and one daughter Kathy both of Tracy, one brother Rexford Phillips (Shelby) of Stittsville, Ontario, two brother-in-laws Albert Golden (Ellen) of Tracy, David Golden of St. John; three sister-in-laws Delores Bell (David), Edrie Golding and Margaret Golding all of Tracy and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a member of the Tracy United Baptist Church and Sunday School and his faith was a very important part of his life.
Visitations will be held at the Tracy United Baptist Church in the Family Center on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Funeral will be at the Tracy United Baptist Church with Pastor and friend Rev. James Harrison officiating on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at 11:00am. In memory of Sherm, donations may be made to the Tracy United Baptist Church Building Fund or a charity of the donors choice.
