Richard Vautour

VAUTOUR, RICHARD - 1947 - 2014 - At the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Wednesday, July 9th, 2014 died Richard Vautour at the age of 67, after a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Moncton May 26th, 1947, he was the son of the late René Vautour and the late Lucie (Richard) Vautour of Saint-Louis-de-Kent. He is survived by David Carrier of Gatineau, Quebec, whom he considered his son, the latter's wife, Annie Flamand, and their three children, Alexis, Annabelle and Rosalie. He also leaves eight sisters: Idora (Emile Cormier) and Noëlla (Bernard LeBlanc) of Dieppe, Claire (Ronald Dupuis) of Moncton, Anne-Marie (Vincent Bordage) and Pierrette (Ronald Daigle) of Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Lucille (Émilien Côté) of Bathurst, Solange (Jean-Guy Robichaud) and Lise, his goddaughter (Armand Cormier) of St. Ignace; five brothers: Gilles (Huguette) of Chicoutimi, Quebec, Donatien (Marie), Paul-Émile (Norma), Roland (Joan), and Jean-Pierre (Camilla) all of Saint-Louis-de-Kent; 35 nieces and nephews, three godchildren, André Vautour, Daniel Dupuis, Yves Léger and their families; three aunts, one uncle and many cousins. He also leaves a special friend, Edgardo Enriquez of Montreal, who took care of him until the end. Besides his parents, a brother in infancy, Gérard and a sister in law, Annette (Paul-Émile) have predeceased. Richard was a member of the RCMP. He worked in Moncton, Ottawa and Montreal where he was an investigator for the Federal Police. Wherever he went, Richard has made many loyal friends. Upon his retirement he volunteered at a nursing home near his residence. Eventually he was hired by families who saw him as a gentle and empathetic good man. Thus, for several years, he took care of several elderly people in their homes until he was struck by cancer in 2010. The Vautour family wishes to thank the staff of D Pavilion of the Jewish General Hospital of Montreal for the good care of Richard and especially Dr. S. Assouline in whom our brother trusted fully.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Thompson Memorial Home, 148 St. Ignace Road, Saint-Louis-de-Kent, Friday August 1st from 2pm to 4pm and from 7pm to 9pm and Saturday, August 2 from 9am to 10:30am . The funeral will be held at the Saint-Louis-des-Français Roman Catholic Church, Saint-Louis-de-Kent at 11am, Saturday, August 2, 2014. Arrangements are in care of Thompson's Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
