Muriel 'Fanny' Morrison

Our family is sad to announce the passing of Muriel Joan Morrison on July 3, 2014, at the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck.
Born on Dec. 2, 1929, in West Tarbot, Muriel was the daughter of the late John Angus and Alice (MacRae) Smith.
Muriel was a member of the St. Ann’s Bay United Church. She had many occupations throughout her life including her own bakeshop, cook at the Gaelic Collage, bartender at the legion, selling jewellery, purser at the Englishtown Ferry, mail driver, delivery of Cape Breton Post over Smokey just to name a few. Muriel will be remembered by her family and friends for being caring and a hard worker.
Muriel is survived by her children, Murdock, Donelda MacAskill (John), Allison, Frank (Nancy) and Kathy Reashore (Clair); sisters, Betty and Murdena; brothers, Andrew (Gerry) and Jackie (Marie); sisters-in-law, Kaye and Angie; daughter-in-law, Barbara and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Muriel was predeceased by brothers, Donnie and Raymond and nephews, Wesley and Kelly.
Visitation and funeral service to celebrate the life of Muriel Joan Morrison will be held at St. Ann’s Bay United Church, St. Ann’s Bay, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. with service to follow at 2 p.m. with Rev. Hazel-Jane Morris officiating. Light refreshments will be served in the church hall following the service. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in memory of Muriel can be made to a charity of your choice.
Heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the hospital, home care, continuing care and anyone else who brightened Muriel’s days to visit, bring her treats or help in anyway.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
